Boeing and AeroInfo look for relationships with organizations that are leaders in what they do, promote diversity and demonstrate innovation, and align and collaborate with others toward common, workable solutions to long-term community objectives.

Boeing Canada-AeroInfo has partnered with a number of such organizations. ArtStarts in Schools in one that provides innovative arts programs for students, practical resources for teachers and is a leader in advocacy for arts in education. A team of our employees recently visited the ArtStart Gallery to celebrate, learn and even make some art.

The support from GCC has made it possible to launch exhibitions of young people’s art, as well as provide free arts-based workshops and events for area kids and their families each month. ArtStart understands that Boeing is an organization that values innovation and appreciates their support in nurturing the next generation of creative thinkers.

The AeroInfo team toured the current exhibition and then moved to the lab to make some art. Everyone was eager to roll up their sleeves, don a smock and participate in a workshop entitled Know Your Roots. The team experimented with creating paints and dyes from various edibles such as lemons, coffee, beets, red cabbage, spinach, turmeric and more.

The idea was to paint your portrait using the lively colors from the paint and dyes made from the edible roots while thinking about where you came from — your personal roots. The paintings allowed the group to get to know one another better, share stories and create art together. Even those who claimed they hadn’t painted anything since grade school eagerly joined in the fun.
